Monitors

Choosing a monitor type

94 Views Last updated: 2026-10-24

Ravnsight offers several monitor types, one for each kind of thing you might want to watch. This guide helps you pick the right one.

Checks run from the EU

All checks run from monitor nodes in the EU. External monitoring works for any site, whether it is built on WordPress, Shopify or something entirely custom.

No false alarms

A failed check is always confirmed from a second location before it alarms, so a single passing blip never triggers an alert.

Interval depends on your plan

How often a monitor may run is limited by your plan. Paid plans allow faster intervals, and a plan floor always applies.

Which type should I choose?

  • HTTP/website – checks that a page responds, with the right status and in time.
  • SSL certificate – warns before the certificate expires or if it changes.
  • Domain – warns before the domain registration lapses.
  • DNS – watches your DNS records and detects changes.
  • API/JSON – checks API responses, status and JSON content.
  • TCP/port – checks that a port accepts a connection.
  • Heartbeat – a dead-man's switch for cron jobs and backups.
  • Synthetic flow – runs a scripted flow in a real browser, such as login or checkout.
