One at a time, watched
Pick a pending update (or tick several). For each, Detective saves a rollback point, runs the update, re-activates the plugin, then loads the front page, a post, a product, the cart, the checkout and any page you name — watching for new fatals, warnings, database errors or HTTP failures. A clean run shows green; a broken one shows the exact new error, attributed to that plugin, and the run stops before it stacks another risky update.
Rollback — files only
Every update leaves a rollback point. Restoring reinstalls the previous plugin files and never touches the database, so a shop’s data is safe. When an update also changed the database, Detective says so, so you know a file rollback may be partial.
What it cannot see
The watch catches server-side PHP problems and HTTP status. It does not judge visual or CSS changes, and JavaScript errors surface later from real visitors on the timeline. Point “Verify page” at the page most likely affected.
