Website monitoring and diagnostics

Know when it breaks. Understand why.

Ravnsight monitors your websites from the outside and only alerts you when something is really wrong. For WordPress, Ravnsight Detective also shows what happened, what changed and what most likely caused it.

Monitoring

Everything that can take a site down, watched from outside

Pages, certificates, domain registration, DNS, APIs, ports and cron jobs – one site, as many monitors as you need, checked from our nodes in the EU.

  • HTTP with full timing breakdown and content checks
  • Certificate and domain expiry warnings, weeks ahead
  • DNS drift, API/JSON assertions, TCP ports, heartbeats
  • Synthetic flows – a real browser walks the checkout and catches JavaScript errors
  • Works for any site – WordPress, Shopify, custom, API

No false alarms

Confirmed from a second country before anyone is woken

A failed check is retried from the same node, then confirmed from another country. Only a confirmed outage opens an incident. Slow is shown, never paged.

  • Retry after 10 s and 20 s, then confirm elsewhere
  • Flapping grouped into one incident
  • Published methodology – read exactly how it works

A single failed check never alerts. 38 seconds from first failure to a confirmed alert.

Optional Β· for WordPress sites

From "the site is down" to "it was this plugin"

Ravnsight Detective is a free WordPress plugin that records updates, errors and performance inside the site. Connected to Ravnsight, it lines them up with what the monitor saw. You do not need WordPress to use Ravnsight – and Detective never changes anything on your site.

  • Grouped PHP errors, attributed to the plugin, theme or core that caused them
  • Investigation Mode + isolation testing: name the problem, get the likely cause with evidence, confirm it safely β€” free
  • A timeline of every update and change, correlated with errors β€” contradicting evidence always shown
  • Safe, watched updates with one-click rollback and on-site backup (Pro)
About the plugin β†’
Checkout down since 14:35 Confidence: HIGH
14:31Plugin "WooPay Gateway" updated 2.3.0 β†’ 2.4.0 14:34PHP fatal: Call to undefined method … gateway.php:212 (Γ—14) 14:35External monitor: /checkout HTTP 500, confirmed

Hypothesis

The outage is strongly correlated with the update of WooPay Gateway.

Supporting: 14 fatals in the plugin, none before 14:31. Contradicting: none found.

Ravnsight Detective – optional plugin for WordPress sites. The platform works without it.

Many client sites? One place.

Agency plans give you Pro monitoring for 10 to 100 sites, a client register that groups sites by customer with an encrypted login vault per site, per-site alert routing and maintenance windows across sites.

How it works

1

Add your site

Paste the address. Ravnsight starts monitoring within a minute.

2

Get alerted – correctly

Outages are verified and grouped before the alert goes out. You learn when it is real, and when it is over.

3

Understand why

With Ravnsight Detective you see what changed just before and which component is most strongly correlated.

Common questions

No. It reads and records. It never updates, deactivates, cleans or optimises anything – not even when it is sure what the cause is. Isolation testing applies changes only inside an isolated session that requires a signed cookie and an administrator login, and it never writes to the plugin list in the database.

Ravnsight watches your website from the outside and tells you when something is wrong – before your customers do. It checks that pages load, that certificates and domains are valid, that DNS has not changed, and alerts the right people when an outage is confirmed.

For WordPress sites, the Ravnsight Detective plugin (coming) adds the inside view: errors, plugin changes and performance, correlated with what the monitor sees.

Pro checks every minute instead of every 5, monitors 5 sites, unlocks DNS, API, TCP and heartbeat monitors, critical-page monitors, alert channels beyond e-mail (Slack, SMS, webhooks…), staged alerts with reminders, maintenance windows, status pages and reports, and keeps 13 months of history. Agency and Partner are Pro for many sites.

A single failed check never alerts anyone. When a check fails we retry after 10 and 20 seconds from the same location, then ask a second location in another country to confirm. Only a confirmed outage becomes an incident and an alert. If your site is slow but answering you see degraded instead – visible, not paged.

Yes. The Free plan monitors one site every 5 minutes with HTTP, certificate and domain-expiry checks, content checks and e-mail alerts, with 30 days of history. No card, no trial clock. Upgrade to Pro when you need more sites, 1-minute checks, more monitor types or Slack/SMS alerts.

One domain you monitor. A site can have many monitors (several pages, certificate, domain, API, heartbeat) without using more slots. Paused sites do not count.

An AI reading of everything we have collected about your site – uptime, incidents, certificates, detected technologies and the homepage snapshot – summarising the current state and pointing out the most likely causes with an honest confidence level. Connect the Detective plugin and the analysis also reads the site from the inside: PHP errors, the change timeline and the environment. It never claims something is a confirmed cause unless it could be reproduced.

From Ravnsight nodes in the EU (Germany, Finland, Sweden) with more regions on the roadmap. Every check records where it ran. Nodes only pull work from us – we never open connections from the cloud into your infrastructure.

  • HTTP – status, response time broken down (DNS, connect, TLS, first byte), redirects and content checks ("the checkout button must be there").
  • Certificate – validity and expiry warnings.
  • Domain – registration expiry and status via the registry (RDAP).
  • DNS (Pro) – expected records and drift.
  • API/JSON (Pro) – call an endpoint, assert on the JSON.
  • TCP port (Pro) – mail, database, anything with a port.
  • Heartbeat (Pro) – your cron job pings us; silence alerts.

No. External monitoring works for any website – WordPress, Shopify, a custom app, an API. Nothing is installed and nothing changes on your site. The optional WordPress plugin adds inside-out data later, and it never makes changes either: Ravnsight observes and diagnoses, it never auto-fixes.
